You're a talented woman who is not getting a pay rise or a promotion. What's going on? In this workshop and Q +A:
* Explore the unconscious biases operating against you — "women aren't ambitious" or "women won't travel if they have kids".
* Learn the art of negotiation and how to pick the right companies to work for.
* Experts Jenny Morris and Yolanda Beattie will give you tips and tools on how to play the game.
JENNY MORRIS was recognised in the 2014 AFR 100 Women of Influence awards for her contribution to "creating a bolder and more diverse future for all Australians". As CEO of The Orijen Group, and as an executive coach and mentor, Jenny provides both advice and training to boards, CEO’s, and staff at all levels in the areas of leadership, diversity and inclusion. She has worked with a raft of bluechips and government bodies including Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, Dell, Qantas, NSW Treasury and many more. Jenny is the co-author of "52 ways to Breakthrough the Glass Ceiling" and is also the founder and chairman of Women for Election Australia.
YOLANDA BEATTIE leads the diversity and inclusion practice at global consulting firm Mercer. Prior to this, she was an executive with the Australian Government's Workplace Gender Equality Agency, and her earlier career included several corporate affairs, communications and marketing roles at companies including Macquarie Group and IAG.
Curated by Jackie Dent, journalist and former Tedx Sydney curator.
Yes, the system needs to change and the reasons behind the pay gap are complex, but let's get practical about addressing the appalling fact Australian women get paid 16.2 percent less than men.
